Why children make great travel companions

Why children make great travel companions

For many people the idea of travelling with a baby or toddler fills them with dread. But for me it fills me with excitement. I think babies and yes even toddlers make great travel companions. Here are our top reasons why children make great travel companions:

You Travel Slow with Children

Nothing will make you embrace slow travel like a baby. Travelling with children means that you can not travel at the pace you used to. Life slows down, You travel deeper and spend more time in one place which means that you get to know a place so much better.

Travel also becomes less of a tick box exercise. Instead of riding around seeing everything mentioned in the guide you appreciate seeing one thing in more depth.

Whether it is spending longer in one place to embracing the joy of fika by taking more breaks in your sightseeing schedule.

You Meet more Locals Travelling with Children

Nothing makes you more approachable than children! Whether it is your child striking up a conversation with the a person on the next table, or chatting to another mum as you children play together.

You See Things Through New Eyes

Little ones look at things differently to adults. As a result you get to see things in a different way too.

Travelling with Children means you do new Things

Before you may have travelled to visit museums and Michelin Starred restaurants. While this is still possible, you do other things too! Things that you would have never done before children.

Whether its visit a zoo or farm

Chatsworth Farm

or a park

or embracing the magic of Disney.

Children are cheap companions

If you are looking for a cheap travel companion then a child under two is the best travel companion there is. Under two children can fly for free and you don’t have to pay for their own bed in hotels.

Who do you think make good travel companions and why?
