Christmas at Leeds Castle Review: the loveliest castle in the world at the most wonderful time of year

If there are two things I love it’s castles and Christmas. So the thought of visiting Leeds Castle, reportedly the loveliest castle in the world at Christmas filled me with excitement. But what is Christmas at Leeds Castle like? Leeds Castle

The castle is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Every room had a differently decorated Christmas tree and the theme is traditions of Christmas past and present. I love this theme as it rejects the commercialised version of Christmas and embraces all of the beauty.

My favourite room had to be lady bailie’s bedroom with this picture postcard tableau!

Christmas in the castle

I loved that the decorations were all plant based especially the poinsettias around the castle and the beautiful traditional garlands.

But perhaps my favourite room was Catherine of Aragon’s bedroom. Her room has been decorated with the most spectacular Christmas advent calendar.

Alongside the beautiful Christmas decorations, there are plenty of Christmas themed activities at the castle. From the decorating Christmas trees with your own traditions, to garland making (booking essential) and meeting Santa’s reindeer!

The only disappointment for us was that we could only visit midweek as at the weekend there is what looks to be a lovely Christmas market. Next year I definitely want to return to give the market a go!

I can’t help but think Leeds Castle is even lovelier at Christmas!
