Al Maha Doha Hamad International Airport Review

I love Doha’s relatively new Hamad International Airport. It is leaps and bounds ahead of its old airport and is one of my favourite airports in the world. It has some interesting art, great lounges and some cool architecture. But perhaps what I loved most about it was its efficient E-gate system – a virtually  instantaneous entry and exit system for residents. So when Baby E arrived, and E-gate was no longer an option for us there was a part of me that felt sad but also nervous. There are many peak travel times in Doha, i.e. Eid. I couldn’t face long queues at security and customs when entering and leaving the country so when I found out about  Al Maha Doha Meet and Greet service for both Arrivals and Departures I couldn’t wait to try it out. Ramadan Tent Suhoor at the Grand Hyatt Doha

Last night we went to the Ramadan Tent Suhoor at the Grand Hyatt Doha. Ramadan tents pop up all over Doha during the Islamic Holy month of Ramadan offering Iftars (the breaking of the fast meal) and Suhours (the early morning meal meant to sustain you for the whole next day fasting). We arrived at the Grand Hyatt at 10pm for the opening of Suhour at their Ramadan tent. We found it to be the perfect place to enjoy this special part of Qatar’s Islamic culture. Here’s why:

What to Wear in Doha – Essential Guide

Whenever I’ve asked about life in Qatar probably the number one question I get asked is ‘Do You Have to Wear a Headscarf?’ The answer is no but I think the frequency of this questions shows that there are many misconceptions about what to wear in Doha. Now I will be the first person to admit that I am not a fashionista! These days I consider a fashion hit to be getting out the house without a stain on my clothes! However, I do like to think that I have got dressing for desert life down and am never disrespectful to my host culture. Therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to put together a guide on what to wear in Doha – a practical perspective!

Qatar, not on everybody’s bucket list but it is gaining momentum on the tourist front especially through layover/stopover offers with Qatar Airways. saturday dim sum brunch Nozomi

Today we went for Saturday brunch at Nozumi. It was a more low key affair than Friday brunch and had a dedicated a la carte dim sum menu!

On arrival the staff were friendly and I was impressed with the modern interior overlooking the Persian Gulf! The waiter was happy to explain the menu set up and suggested we let him order for us which we were only too happy to do.  When the food arrived he was able to knowledgable explain what we were eating.

The menu is laid out in vegetable, fish and meat dumplings but each serving brought out offered a little of everything.

Afternoon tea buffet at Westin Doha

I have been a big fan of Westin Doha since I first went to Hunters Grill and am always eager to try their offerings. I am not a huge desserts fan, as regular readers will know, so when I read about the afternoon tea buffet I was very excited. An opportunity to have afternoon tea where I could have more sandwiches and scones and less cake. My ideal afternoon tea; that’s why what we had was even more disappointing.

The buffet display
