2017 travels in review

2017 has been an awesome year in the Wandermust Household. Yes there have been highs and lows and some challenges along the way but overall 2017 has been a year of great travel experiences.

January

We started off our year back in the UK where little lady had spent her first Christmas. But this time in the UK was hot as we jetted back to the sandbox that we called home, Doha, Qatar!

Wandermust Daddy had more travels in January as he ticked off a bucket list experience for him of watching Test Cricket in India.

February

February travel was a bit of a mixed bag. We returned to Dubai again, for little lady’s first trip. Dubai is somewhere many people have a love hate relationship with but this trip helped me learn to appreciate Dubai as we saw a different side to Dubai by experiencing a desert resort. But unfortunately wandermust daddy was sick and spent his whole visit in our room. But if you have to spend your whole trip in a room then it was a pretty nice room to be stuck in!

The rest of my February was tough as I had to spend my first nights away from my little one when I went on a business trip to Melbourne. The hotel was lovely and it is a city full of great foodie experiences but it was tough. I learnt a few tricks that helped me keep my sanity and that I hope will help other mums in future.

April

April we got to tick off one of our bucket list item when we got to visit the Maldives. While most associated with honeymooners, we found the Maldives to be a great family friendly destination.

The Bandos Maldives Resort

And we ended the month by heading back to Dubai. I went to my first blogger’s event and also stayed at the Conrad Dubai where we enjoyed some Middle East luxury.

Our summer plans went out of the window as the Qatar diplomatic crisis hit and we returned back home to the UK. While this was unexpected and we had to cancel some amazing travel plans because of it, I’m looking at you Singapore. But we did get to experience some of the best the Uk has to offer. From National Trust properties, historic houses and quaint villages.

September

Our big trip of 2017 came in September as we travelled round Japan and took a cruise to Russia and South Korea. It is safe to say I really fell in love with Japan and couldn’t believe how family friendly it was.

It was also the place I can say my little one loved the most as she got her first taste of Disney!

October & November

October and November was all about the UK again as we continued to tour the country and experience more historic homes.

December

December for us is all about preparation. Preparation for our round the world trip with a toddler in tow!

What was your 2017 like? What are your travel plans for 2018

Love the Doha nickname “Sandbox”. When I lived there we called it the Sandpit lol. And totally agree with you in Maldives. We loved it as a family!!
