Recently we went to lunch at Mainland China after seeing so many good reviews on Twitter. So did it live up to the hype?
Firstly I have to say that when we entered we were taken aback by the lovely and very tasteful decor. It was much Slicker than I had expected. I even quite liked the glass dragon light and waterfall feature at the reception.
But the main reason I was there was for the food. I LOVE Chinese food, in particularly I love British style Chinese food which is completely different in my opinion to American Chinese which seems to be the main offering in Doha outside of hotels so I had been keen to try somewhere new!
We started with some assorted appetisers. Prawn dim sum, crab wontons and duck rolls which were all outstandingly good. I would say the best dim sum outside of hakkasan in Doha.
For mains we ordered Hunan prawns and the spicy chicken. Wandermust daddy loved the Hunan prawns but they were a little salty for my taste but I can be a bit sensitive that way! The chicken on the other hand was a scrummy !
At this point baby e was getting a little bored so we didn’t have time for dessert but left happy and with full bellies! The dessert menu did look delicious though!
It’s also worth giving a quick shout out to the staff. Outside of the hotels it’s rare to find really knowledgable waiting staff but at mainland China the staff really knew the menu well and offered some really excellent suggestions. They were also great with Baby E!
So would we return? Absolutely! Personally I would fill up on dim sum which for me were star of the show but I am keen to explore some of the other main menu items too!
