Reliving travel memories with kids – 5 places I will return to with my daughter

Reliving travel memories with kids – 5 places I will return to with my daughter

I have never been a person that wants to repeat the same holiday year in year out but when the Wandermust baby came along I got thinking about all the amazing travel memories I had with Wandermust Daddy. All the places we had experienced without her. Now, while I will forever treasure  the time we spent as a couple, I am keen to start reliving travel memories with our little one in tow.On the Wandermust Baby’s first holiday we went to Rome, a place that holds a special place in Wandermust Daddy’s and my heart. One of the things we were determined to do was recreate a travel photograph from one of our first holidays together with our newest addition in the shot!

Rome is a great city for families

I was so happy to have done this and suddenly I started to think about all the destinations I wanted to return to with our daughter. So out of all our child-free travel experiences here are the top 5 that we want to return to with her!

Reliving Travel Memories with Kids – Places I want to take my child back to

Why I want to return to Ireland with Kids – Travel Heritage

We are an Irish family being full passport holders but wandermust toddler has never been. I have so many fond memories of my Irish family and the times I spent in Ireland. It holds such a special place in my heart as Wandermust Daddy and I got married there in the Cathedral that we have strong family ties with. I want to take her there and soon to see where we got married, see where her great grandad use to live and meet all her Irish relatives.

Why I want to return and Cross the Equator in Uganda with kids

Uganda is such an incredible place. It was the last holiday that we really planned before having the Wandermust baby. Uganda offers so many amazing travel opportunities, from once in a lifetime wildlife experiences such as gorilla trekking and chimp trekking to sailing safaris. But one of the photos that I love most of me and Wandermust Daddy is us at the equator.

Now we have crossed the equator with the Wandermust toddler but this was done at sea so we never got that iconic photograph. When she is old enough to go gorilla trekking I want to take her back to experience Afric and update this photo.

Why I want to Return to Italy with Kids

Now I have taken my little one to Rome, but Italy is so much more than Rome. Now don’t get me wrong I love counting countries and experiences lots of new places but I don’t want to teach my daughter shallow travel. I want to teach her all about deep and slow travel and there is no better places to do this than Italy.

Why I want to return to the Caribbean with kids

The Caribbean literally has everything on offer that the Wandermust toddler loves. From white sandy beaches to crystal blue seas and amazing animal experiences, if the Wandermust toddler could write down her perfect holiday I am sure this would be it.

Why I want to return to the desert

The Wandermust Toddler was born in the desert and although we don’t currently live in the desert, it is a place that I want to take her back to. I think heritage in travel is so important and to us she will always be our little desert princess and I want her to acknowledge that part of her and our lives. I would love to take her back to explore more of our favorite places in Doha to the deserts of Dubai and perhaps even explore further afield.

What do you think about reliving travel memories with kids? We”d love to know where you have taken kids to relive travel memories!

awww I love this, I feel like we're doing this now as we're older with our parents. It's so great to be able to reminisce and see how much has changed. And you get to see how much you've changed personally when you see places through different eyes.

I really love the concept of heritage travel too - so I hope wandermust baby gets to go back to the desert! She is going to have a childhood full and travel and is so lucky for that!
