Hidden away inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, Captain Jack’s Restaurant des Pirates offers one of the most atmospheric dining experiences in Disneyland Paris. With its flickering lanterns, dark wooden décor, and waterside tables overlooking the ride boats floating past, it feels as though you’ve stepped straight into a Caribbean tavern at the edge of an adventure.
It’s an undeniably unique setting, but as with many themed restaurants, the real question is whether the food matches the magic?
What it is

Captain Jack Disneyland Paris Review
The restaurant serves Caribbean-Creole inspired cuisine, blending tropical flavours and island spices with French culinary flair. The menu is structured as a fixed three-course offering a starter, main, and dessert. Adult set menus are priced around €55 (excluding a drink), while children’s menus cost about €30, including a drink. À la carte options are also available, with main courses generally ranging from €36 to €47. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are included.
Location and Atmosphere

Captain Jack Disneyland Paris Review
Captain Jack’s sits inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Adventureland, meaning that as you dine, you can watch the ride boats glide by under a warm, twilight glow. The music, lantern light, and gently lapping water make it feel far away from the chaos of the park outside.
Unlike many Disneyland Paris restaurants, this one doesn’t feel crowded or noisy. Tables are well spaced, and the atmosphere is not chaotic meaning it gives welcome respite from the chaos outside.
If you are dining here, we recommend asking for a waterside table at check-in, if possible. This is where the action happens and, in my opinion, the main point of dining here.
Our Experience

Captain Jack Disneyland Paris Review
We were dining as a family of 4. Two adults and two children eating off the Children’s menu. Here is our honest account of experience.
We were seated closed to the waters edge which was great as my kids loved watching and waving as the boats went by. The atmosphere was also great, but what about the food? We decided to all order off the set menu.
Starters:

Our meal began on a high note. One of us went for the smoked sausage dish, which was tasty and satisfying, but the real standout was the smoked chicken and papaya starter. Fresh, balanced, and full of flavour — we both agreed it was easily the best thing we ate all night.

The kids started with potted tuna and tortilla chips, which sounded simple enough but didn’t quite land. They happily polished off the chips, but the tuna was a no-go. It’s one of the plainer starters, and honestly, not a great choice for fussy eaters.
Mains:

For the mains, one adult ordered the jerk pork with sweet potato mash, which turned out to be the best of the bunch — tender and nicely cooked, though surprisingly mild for something billed as “jerk.”

The chicken and prawn colombo curry was just okay; it lacked punch and the rice portion was tiny, even by European standards.

On the kids’ side, the coconut-crusted chicken with rice was a big success with my “beige brigader”.

The mahi-mahi, however, was a bit of a letdown. My daughter is usually an adventurous eater and adores fish, but the unexpected sauce coating threw her off completely. The fact is was not billed this way on the menu was particularly disappointing.
Desserts:

Desserts were a mixed bag and leaned heavily toward rice puddings. The kids’ caramel rice pudding was very sweet. One child loved it, the other didn’t touch it. The adults’ mango rice pudding was dense and a bit heavy after the meal, while the pineapple and shortbread pudding was the best of the lot — pleasant enough, but nothing to rave about.
So Is Captain Jack’s Worth a Visit?
The Setting

Captain Jack Disneyland Paris Review
The setting is the true highlight. It’s dark, immersive, and transports you straight into the world of the Caribbean pirates. Watching boats drift past as diners on the ride wave adds a bit of fun to the experience. It’s a calm, cool retreat from the busy park, a hidden gem for atmosphere alone.
Starters – A Strong Start
The starters are where Captain Jack’s truly shines. The smoked chicken and papaya salad stands out fresh, vibrant, and surprisingly sophisticated. A close second is the smoked sausage starter, which packs just enough richness to feel indulgent without being heavy. These dishes are well-presented and feel more carefully thought out than many other theme park meals.
Choice of À La Carte or Prix Fixe
Guests can choose between ordering à la carte or opting for the set menu, giving a bit of flexibility depending on appetite and budget. It’s a nice touch, especially for families who don’t all want a full three-course meal.
Doesn’t Feel Crowded
Unlike the hustle and bustle of some of the larger buffets, Captain Jack’s feels relaxed. You can actually hear yourself talk. The quiet ambience makes it a good choice for couples or anyone looking for a slower-paced dining experience.
View of the Ride
There’s something magical about dining with a view of the ride’s lagoon. It gives the restaurant a theatrical quality and you’re part of the show, but still tucked away from it. It’s easily one of the most unique dining spots in the resort.
Kids’ Menu Offers Something Other than Chips
The kids’ menu is hit and miss. While we liked the mains, the starters and desserts were not great. Also there really is nothing for the fussy eaters out there as there isn’t a chip in sight. The main dishes are reasonably balanced and include some vegetables but the fact the menu neglects to mention sauces etc means that even adventurous eaters can have their meal ruined.
Not Ideal for Very Fussy Eaters
For children or adults who like very simple food, this might not be the best choice. There are no chips or basic options like plain pasta, and the flavours while mild are a bit more adventurous than what many picky eaters enjoy. Also the fact that sauces appear not on the menu can spoil the food for some.
Slow Service
Service can be inconsistent. On our visit, food arrived slowly and some dishes sat waiting to be served for a while. It wasn’t disastrous, but it did take away from the experience by eating luke warm food.
Small Portions of Carbs
The portions of sides like rice or potatoes are on the small side. The plates look elegant, but a little more substance especially for the price would be welcome. We definitely aren’t after American suzed portions but the rice size was almost laughable.
Less Flavour Than Expected
With a name like Captain Jack’s and a Caribbean-inspired menu, you might expect bold flavours, spices, and a hint of heat. In reality, the dishes are very mild, not a chilli in sight. We definitely left wishing for a bit more zest, spice and adventure on the plate.
Child’s Fish Dish
One small disappointment was that the children’s fish came covered in a sauce that wasn’t clearly described on the menu. It wasn’t a bad sauce, but for kids who don’t like surprises on their food or like their fish plain this could easily cause problems as it did with ours.
Final Thoughts
Captain Jack’s is one of those restaurants you visit for the setting rather than the food. Sitting by the water in the dim, lantern-lit atmosphere is genuinely special it’s one of the most immersive dining locations in Disneyland Paris.
The food isn’t bad, but it’s not particularly exciting either. The starters are the highlight, while the mains could use a bit more flavour and flair. The service can be slow, and the menu isn’t ideal for picky eaters so I would avoid with fussier kids.
Would I eat there again? Probably not. However the setting alone makes it worth experiencing at least once, especially if you love Pirates of the Caribbean like my husband.
In short: a beautiful backdrop for a meal that’s more about the mood than the menu
