I an not an outdoorsy person. I love wildlife but I don’t want to have to rough it to have amazing experiences. One of the things I loved about Uganda is that I could go and experience great wildlife, from gorilla trekking to chimp trekking to Uganda safaris, all the while knowing I was returning to 5* service by using one of the many fabulous luxury lodges in Uganda. But if you are looking for the best luxury lodge in Uganda then here are my top three picks of the best luxury lodges in Uganda View Post
Have you ever had a meal that you got so swept up in that you forgot that perhaps pictures for your blog might have been a good idea? Well that is exactly what happened to be when we went to Masseria Il Frantoio. We had travelled to Ostuni, Puglia with my in-laws for their Ruby wedding anniversary. As with all holidays I take, the first thing I do once we have booked is look for amazing foodie options nearby. As this was such a special anniversary this made this finding somewhere nice even more important and that is how I came to stumble on the website of the Masseria Il Frantoio.
One of the conditions I had when booking a gorilla and chimp trekking safari in Uganda was that we did it in style. I wanted luxury lodges, five star service and great locations. And this is exactly what I got when I visited Kyambura Gorge Lodge. View Post
Gin has been the drink du jour for the past few years in London. Served in teacups, jam jars and other weird serving methods, it has been the drink of hipsters and yuppies alike. The craze has not escaped me either and as part of my pre pregnancy birthday celebrations, Wandermust Daddy booked a special evening at the City of London distillery, or COLD as it otherwise abbreviated.
COLD was opened in 2012 and marked a 200 year absence of Gin distilling within London City limits where previously there had been over a thousand.
During the eighteenth century there was a period known as ‘the gin craze’. When there were gin shops littering virtually every street in London. Most famously, the craze for gin was portrayed in Hogarth’s Beer Street and Gin Lane . The print showed the dangers of drinking gin- suicide, madness and starvation being only a few of the consequences of gin drinking.
There isn’t a gin shop on every corner anymore but the London hasn’t lost it’s taste (hopefully not to the extent shown above) for gin and COLD is bringing back the gin distilling tradition to the City of London.
COLD is tucked away in a basement just off Fleet Street, just below St Bride’s Church in an unassuming building which could be easily missed. When you descent the stairs you are confronted with a large glass wall with the Gin Lab to one side. COLD organises tours of the Gin distillery for Groups where you can distill your own gin but also has a bar for you to enjoy gin tastings and an array of inventive cocktails at the other end of the basement.
We love luxury hotels. Whether we are traveling as a couple or a family we always look for somewhere luxurious to stay. But what makes a hotel luxurious?
Wandermust Daddy and I have very different opinions about what makes a luxurious hotel. For him it’s all about the shower. For me it’s all about the bath. But we both agree that open bathrooms with a view are the bees knees!View Post
