Hong Kong is a city that has been on my bucket list for such a long time. So as we were booking our round the trip we knew we were going to shoehorn it into our itinerary. However there are some brill things that you can do on a Hong Kong family holiday with a toddler so here we have rounded up our top 10 things to do in Hong Kong with toddler.

10 Best things to do in Hong Kong with toddler
Disneyland Hong Kong with toddler
Disneyland Hong Kong has to be on the list of the best things to do in Hong Kong for toddlers and should definitely be added to your Hong Kong toddler itinerary. Disney is always a great idea with a toddler whether in Japan, California or Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Park is by far the smallest of all the worldwide Disney parks but has a great amount of attractions for toddlers.
In my opinion no Hong Kong itinerary with toddler is complete without a visit but if you are worried about size then you could just spend a morning or afternoon at the park. As the smallest Disney Park in the world, it is quite a compact site and you could achieve a lot in just half a day!
Due to its size you could probably even just spend an afternoon or evening there but we had a great full day! To find out all of our top tips for visiting Hong Kong Disneyland check out this post as it will help to maximise your time and save you money.
It is best to book your Hong Kong Disney in Advance! Click here for discounted advance tickets via Klook Travel

For a full Disney experience then why not stay at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort
An alternative if you don’t want to visit Disneyland but would still like to experience a theme park in Hong Kong is to visit Oceanland! You can buy your tickets online here
The Peak Tramway
This is one of the best things to do in Hong Kong with kids regardless of age and should be on the itinerary for any family trip to Hong Kong!
The Peak Tramway is a funicular railway that takes tourists go to Victoria Peak. The tramway is an experience in itself and the view at the top spectacular ( so I am told we had horrendous weather in Hong Kong so bad nothing could be seen from the top)
Tip for travelling to Hong Kong with toddler and visiting the peak tramway – get there early as the queues get horrendously long and make sure you book your tickets in advance!
Of all the things to do in Hong Kong with family in tow this is one of the musts!
Hong Kong Observation Wheel
Right on the bay and offering great views! Children will love riding the observation wheel! It is really one of the best Hong Kong toddler activities!
Hong Kong Park – a great free thing to do in Hong Kong with toddler
If you are looking for where to go in Hong Kong with toddler in tow then this park for sure needs to be on your list! This was probably my toddlers favourite place in the city.
Not only is there an amazing playground, great views and Greek spaces but there are loads of free animal encounters. From the zoo and butterfly house to my little ones favourite the aviary! Hong Kong park really is one of the best Hong Kong attractions for kids!
Ride the MidLevel Escalators
The mid level escalators are a sight to behold and one of the best things to do with toddlers in Hong Kong! Making the hills of Hong Kong accessible to the masses, riding the midlevel escalators is a must for your hong kong itinerary. Toddlers and kids of all ages will love riding them!

Visit the Big Buddha
One of Hong Kong’s biggest tourist attractions! This is a must for any visit to Hong Kong. However if visiting with a toddler leave the stroller behind! This is a definite carry job!
A great way to get to the Big Buddha is via the cablecar! You can book tickets in advance!
Ride or Watch for Aqua Luna
One of the must things to do in Hong Kong with children! Aqua Luna is the iconic clipper that can be spotted by its iconic red sails in Hong Kong. Toddlers will love going for a ride or spotting it as you travel around the city. It is really one of my favourite things to do in Hong Kong with kids.
Take a ferry
If the above doesn’t take your fancy be sure to catch at least one ferry in Hong Kong. Whether to get to one of the many islands or just to get a different perspective on Hong Kong. This is definitely one of the best things for kids to do in Hong Kong and the beaches and islands around Hong Kong are very family friendly!
Walk the Avenue of Stars
Looking for what to do in with kids in Hong Kong more than toddlers then the avenue of stars must be on the list! The avenue of stars is Hong Kong’s answer to the Hollywood wall of fame and will be of particular interest to those who have martial arts fanatics in the family!
Watch The Nightly Symphony Of Lights And ICC Light Show
Looking for what to do in Hong Kong with toddler in tow at night then look no further than the Symphony of Lights -Hong Kong’s signature light show! This is one of the best Hong Kong family activities, children will love watching this spectacle over he Bay – if they can stay up late enough to watch it!
Where to Stay in Hong Kong with toddlers
If you are traveling to Hong Kong with children then we recommend looking at one of the below hotels for lodging!
When we did our Hong Kong family trip we stayed at the ! We are really enjoyed our time at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and it was particularly well located for the ferries and the observation wheel. It also has a brilliant pool which I think is a necessity for little ones during the worst of the Hong Kong heat!
Another answer to where to stay in Hong Kong with kids has to be the . Although we didn’t stay there we walked past this hotel everyday of our Hong Kong family vacation and we felt that this was well appointed for traveling with kids as it was attached to one of the nice upscale malls which is handy to have when traveling with kids! If we were to return to Hong Kong with family again I would definitely consider this hotel!
Another great hotel in Hong Kong for families is the Four was also attached to the same mall and this chain always offers outstanding service!

Things to do in Hong Kong with baby and other essential information
- Although we travelled with a toddler, I think all of the above would be easy and good things to do with baby in Hong Kong!
- Hong Kong is a very easy place to buy baby supplies. Baby food, diapers and pureed foods can be found in lots of pharmacies and supermarkets.
- We found it difficult using our stroller in Hong Kong. There are lots of uneven pavements and not all stations we found were accessible – we ended up carrying our stroller downstairs a lot.
- If you are traveling to Hong Kong with a baby then we recommend taking a baby carrier with you but given the heat be sure to get a baby carrier for hot weather!
Travelling Around Hong Kong with Kids, Toddlers and Babies
- Car Seats aren’t required in taxis but I think it is always prudent to use one! You can read our guide to best toddler travel car seats here!

I think I would feel a bit daunted at the prospect of visiting Hong Kong with a toddler, it's such a huge city! I really liked all of your great suggestions, particularly Disney (Disney is always a good idea, right?), and also the park, I love to find green spaces for the kids to blow off some steam. #fearlessfamtrav
