How to Meet Characters at Hollywood Studios

Before we get into specifics about how to meet characters at Hollywood Studios it is worth noting that while there are always certain character meet and greets in the park, that there is always a chance for informal character meet and greets that pop up more randomly. 

Therefore while this guide will give you a good overview of characters be sure to keep checking your Disney World app as there may be special meet and greets on your day of travel. 

What Characters Can you meet at Hollywood Studios

So what characters can you meet at Hollywood Studios? 

Below we have given you a list, in alphabetical order or the characters you can meet in Hollywood Studios that don’t involve an additional supplement i.e. don’t require character dining to meet. 

The characters you can usually meet are:

However you can’t meet all the characters in the same way. So how can you meet characters at Hollywood Studios?

How can you meet characters at Hollywood Studios?

So how can you meet characters at Hollywood Studios? I would say there are three main ways in which you can meet and see characters at this park. They are:

• Character Meet and Greets
• Character Sightings
• Shows 
• Roaming Characters

Character meet and greets are usually queued meetings in specific locations or permanent homes around the park. 

Character Sightings on the other hand aren’t traditional meet and greets. You can’t go up and give them a hug but you can wave and interact with the characters from a distance. While roaming characters wander around the park and will not stop for long meet and greets.

There are also shows such as Lightening McQueen’s Racing Academy and Beauty and the BEast Live show where you will be able to see characters. 

On top of that there is character dining where you can hug, meet and get autographs from characters. 

And finally the other opportunity you have to see rather than Meet Characters is the Calvacades which occur throughout the day (check app for times).

Hollywood Studios Character Meet and Greets

How to Meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios has a permanent home for meeting Mickey and Minnie Mouse. As with each park, Mickey and Minnie are dressed in attire that fits the park they are in and Hollywood Studios is no exception. 

The Mickey meet and greet at Hollywood Studios is called Red Carpet Dreams.

At Red Carpet Dreams Mickey will be wearing his Fantasia Outfit while Minnie will be in her Hollywood Glamour red carpet attire. 

This meet and greet is located across the walkway from the ABC Commissary on Commissary Lane and is usually operating between the hours of 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

Unfortunately the queue for this area is largely outdoors so isn’t something to do at Hollywood Studios on a rainy day or to try and escape the heat. 

Usually there is a photographer present at this meet and greet so you will be able to use your Magic Band to grab your pics. 

Also if you attend the Disney Junior Dance Party you will be able to see Mickey and Minnie in their Roadsters outfit however there is no opportunity to actually meet the characters. 

How to Meet Olaf at Hollywood Studios

Unfortunately, there are not many Princess meet and greets at Hollywood Studios. However there is a character you can meet at Hollywood Studios from a Princess movie. That character is of course Olaf. 

Olaf meet and greets take place at Hollywood Studios at the rear of Hperion Theater which is also where the Frozen Sing A-Long takes place. 

This queue is outdoors but is largely covered so it does provide some shade or protection from wet weather if you are in Hollywood Studios on a rainy day. 

There is usually a Disney photographer based at this meet and greet. 

Sully Meet and Greet at Hollywood Studios

The Sully meet and greet takes place at the back of  Walt Disney Presents, which sits near the Animation Courtyard.

His meet and greet hours are usually shorter than other characters only operating from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m and this along with hiss popularity and the fact you can’t meet him in any other park means this meet and queue can get quite long.

But one thing I love about this meet and greet is that it is indoors. This means that it is the perfect thing to do in Hollywood Studios on a rainy day or on a super hot day when the temperatures sky rocket in the middle of the day. 

Are Chip and Dale at Hollywood Studios

Chip and Dale have moved from their original sighting spot at Hollywood Brown Lane and have now moved to Echo Lake near Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular for an actual meet and greet. 

And the added bonus os that in Hollywood Studios you can meet them in their Rescue Rangers costumes.  

Toy Story Meet and Greets at Hollywood Studios

You can usually meet and greet three toy story characters at Hollywood Studios. These are:

• Jessie
• Woody and 
• Buzz. 

Woody and Jessie are usually found near the Toy Story mania Entrance while Buzz can be found near to the toy story land entrance. Check on the app for times. 

This was an absolute must do for our toddler at Hollywood Studios. 

Star Wars Meet and Greets at Hollywood Studios

One of the main reasons people fo to Hollywood Studios is to visit the Galaxy’s Edge World. However the permanent Star Wars Meet and Greets are not located here. Instead they are located in the Star Wars Launch Bay Animation Courtyard. 

The meet and greets run from 9:am to 7pm. However unlike other meet and greets where you can meet all the characters, you have to queue for each Star Wars character individually. 

In this area you can meet:

• Darth Vader
• BB8
• Chewbacca. 

As you would expect given these character’s popularity the lines here can get long. However if you arrive at 9am you will find the queues very short. 

When we arrived at this time we managed to see all 3 characters within 15 minutes. 

There are some other Star Wars characters sightings but no other meet and greets. More on this later. 

How to Meet Goofy and Max at Hollywood Studios

Goofy and Max meet daily on the Grand Avenue. If you are lucky Max will be in his Powerline outfit. 

Disney Juniors Meet and Greets at Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is the best place to meet Disney Junior characters. At the Animation Courtyard you could meet:

• Doc McStuffins
• Fancy Nancy and 
• Vamparina. 

Again the hours of operation are 9am-5pm. 

Pluto is also usually a character meet and greet here. 

Hollywood Studios Character Sightings

Character sightings are places where you can see Disney characters going about their daily lives but will be unable to stop for photos, sign autographs and give hugs. 

Characters who are currently involved in character sightings at Hollywood Studios are:

Are Donald Duck and Daisy Duck at Hollywood Studios

When we went to Hollywood Studios Donald Duck and Daisy Duck were meet and greets on the bouvelard as you enter the park. 

However they have been relocated to a character sighting on the Hollywood Brown Lawn area.

It is worth keeping an eye out on as this meet and greet does change. 

Incredibles Sightings at Hollywood Studios

If you are in the Echo Lake area then you will likely see mr and Mrs Incredible and may Frozone in this area.

Star Wars Sightings

Star Wars Sightings always take place in the Galaxy’s Edge land. The characters that are currently sightings at the Studios are:

• Vo Morai
• Stormtroopers
• Kylo Ren
• Ren

They usually put on quite a show and are some of the more interactive sightings at Disney World. 

Hollywood Studios Character Dining 

Hollywoods Studios has one character dining experience that has different characters depending on whether you go to breakfast or lunch/dinner. This is at Hollywood and Vine. 

For breakfast Hollywood and Vine is Disney Juniors themed where you can usually meet Jake from Never Land Pirates, Princess Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins and Goody. 

While for Lunch and dinner Minnie hosts a seasonal buffet with classic characters. As we were there at Halloween, the characters were in spooky costumes but at other times of year they will wear their Hollywood glamour outfits. 

How to prepare for meeting characters meet and greets

Autographs 

Autographs are one of the best ways to collect Disney memories. To do so you will need an autograph book and thick pen or felt tip with you for getting autographs.

Camera 

As you have limited time with the characters be sure to ahve your own camera or phone with you to capture memories. And we have always found cast members happy to take pictures for us if our device was ready to go. 

Magic Band 

We are often asked if Magic Bands are worth it at Disney world? And while the jury is out for us one of the things they are useful for is capturing your photo pass memories easily.
