Hollywood Studios with a baby

Stroller Parking at Hollywood Studios - visiting Hollywood Studios with a baby

visiting Hollywood Studios with a baby

You might think that visiting a theme park with a baby is a bad idea. And admittedly many theme parks aren’t designed with babies in mind however Disney usually has something for all ages to enjoy.

At Hollywood Studios there are limited rides that you can go on with babies. In fact there are only two rides that are baby friendly at Hollywood Studios.  In fact, Hollywood Studios has the fewest baby friendly rides at any Disney World Park.

The rides with no height restriction that you can go on with a baby at Hollywood Studios are:

  • Toy Story Midway Mania and
  • Mickey’s Runaway Railroad.

And although you can take babies on these rides, they may not be as enjoyable for babies at rides at other Disney World parks.

For instance, on Toy story Midway Mania you have to wear 3d glasses to fully appreciate this ride. This is difficult for babies and toddlers so their enjoyment may be limited.

Also depending on your baby’s temperament they may or may not enjoy Mickey’s Runaway Railway. This ride has lots of music and noises and can be a little jolty. Our little ones have always enjoyed this one but if you have a more sensitive baby they may not enjoy this ride.

However your little one may enjoy the shows at this park. There are two main shows here in the form of Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage and Lightening McQueen’s Racing Academy.

Out of these I think the Beauty and the Beast is the most baby friendly show as there is more music that they would enjoy.

Also it is worth noting that Hollywood Studios like the other parks has many facilities for babies. There are great baby care centers throughout the parks and rider switch at many attractions help parents traveling with young kids enjoy some of the more thrill rides such as Tower or Terror and Star Wars Rise of the Resistance which should absolutely be top of your Hollywood Studios bucket list.

Overall I would say that you can do Hollywood Studios with a baby, it is a park that you can probably miss or spend limited time in if you are looking for baby friendly attractions.

Hollywood Studios with a toddler – is this the best age to go to Hollywood Studios

Alien ride at Hollywood Studio

Toddler Friendly Rides at Hollywood Studios

I love visiting Disney World with a toddler. In fact toddler is one of my favourite ages to go to Disney World. But is Hollywood Studios good with a toddler?

There are more rides that toddlers can go on at Hollywood Studios as opposed to when you go with a baby, but only just. On top of the rides that were listed above toddlers could also go on and enjoy:

  • Alien Swirling Saucers – 32 inches / 81 centimeters

However the rest of the rides at Hollywood Studios have a much higher height restrictions which will prevent toddlers riding.

As with babies, toddlers will also enjoy the Beauty and Beast and the Cars Show.

On top of this there is the Disney Juniors Dance Party which my toddler went absolutely crazy about. In this show you get to see many Disney Junior Characters including Vamparina, Mickey Roadster Racer and Doc McStuffins to name just a couple.

Also toddlers going to Hollywood Studios will love the meet and greets.

Meet and greets at Hollywood Studios toddlers will love are:

  • Buzz Lightyear
  • Doc McStuffins
  • Fancy Nancy
  • Goofy and Max (Powerline)
  • James P. Sullivan (Sulley)
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Minnie Mouse
  • Mr. and Mrs. Incredible
  • Olaf
  • Pluto
  • Vampirina and
  • Woody and Jessie

If you have a toddler that loves the Disney channel, then this may be the best park for meet and greets. On top of this you are able to do character sightings of characters such as CHip and dale and meet Star Wars characters. However my little one didn’t know who these were and was actually quite scared of Chewwy and Darth Vader so these might want to be avoided.

However if you have a princess mad toddler then this is not the park for you as there aren’t princess meet and greets in this park.

Note: If you want some ideas for better Disney character interactions check out our post on questions to ask Disney characters

Also one of the downsides of visiting Hollywood Studios with a toddler is that you may still have to work around nap times and still have to think about the best stroller for Disney and packing snacks to take to Disney World.

Hollywood Studios with kids (4-10)

Toy Story Mania Midway Mania Ride at Hollywood Studios

Perhaps the best age to go to Hollywood Studios is with kids is between the ages of 4-10. The reason for this is because children at this age

  • haven’t lost the magic that the park inspires,
  • will still love the meet and greets of which there are plenty in Hollywood Studios
  • May have started to become familiar with Star Wars, and Galaxy’s Edge is a huge draw for Hollywood Studios
  • they have stamina for long days in the park without naps or strollers
  • they can watch all of the shows and evening entertainment including Fantastmic evening shoe
  • there will be very few rides that they can not go on due to height restrictions. My 6 year old went on almost all of the rides in this park except for Tower of Terror and Rock and Roller Coaster.

In my opinion visiting Hollywood Studios with kids between the ages of 4 – 10 may be the best age to go.

Hollywood Studios with teenagers

Tower of Terror - scary ride at Hollywood Studios

Tower of Terror – scary ride at Hollywood Studios

Although I normally think younger kids get more amount of Disney, I think Hollywood Studios may be the best Disney World park for teenagers due t to the amount of thrill rides and rides with height restrictions.

As I mentioned, only two rides at this park don’t have a height restriction. And as you can see below, only really teenagers will reach the height restriction to go on every ride in the park:

  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 48 inches / 122 centimeters

  • Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – 40 inches / 102 centimeters

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 40 inches / 102 centimeters

  • Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 40 inches / 102 centimeters

  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 38 inches / 97 centimeters

  • Slinky Dog Dash – 38 inches / 97 centimeters

  • Alien Swirling Saucers – 32 inches / 81 centimeters

Overall I think teenagers are a great age to go to Hollywood Studios with.

Hollywood Studios as an adult

Hollywood Studios has a lot to offer adults visiting the park. One of the great things about visiting as an adult is you can go on any ride, can wait in long queues and don’t necessarily have to buy Genie Plus unless you want to.

However I do not think there is anything at this park that is aimed at adults especially.

So what is the best age to go to Hollywood Studios? Personally I think children between 4-10 and teenagers get the most out of this park.

And if you are looking for a park to skip if you are visiting Disney World with babies or toddlers I think this park is it, due to the lack of rides without height restrictions.

Dumbo Ride - Toddler Rides at Magic Kingdom

Toddler Rides at Magic Kingdom

For toddlers, Magic Kingdom is absolutely the best park. The reason for this is because there are more toddler friendly rides at Magic Kingdom and more suitable meet and greets. On top of that I find toddlers love parades which Hollywood STudios does not have.
