We love taking a day trip from our home in London! And there are so many places that are easy to get to but really make you feel like you have escaped the city! Here we round up the 1o best places we think you should take a day trip from London to in the month of August!

1. Brighton

Brighton Pier by Mummy Travels

The coastal city of Brighton is perhaps one of the easiest to get to if you are in central London. Just a quick hop on the train from Victoria and you reach the beach in next to no time. The town also has lots of other things on offer whether you want to see the historic Pavillon or want to wonder round the quaint shop or maybe you just want to enjoy the beach !

If you are fancying something a bit different why not consider heading across the coast a bit further and do a day trip to Seven Sisters from London to see the beautiful white cliffs! 

2. Leeds castle

It’s tag says that it is the prettiest castle in the world and it is easy to believe. Hop in a car and head to the castle in all its summertime glory. There is even a great play area and falconry displays to keep the littles entertained.

3. Rye

Rye is a town that has everything on offer for a summer visitor! The quaint town has unusual shops, timber framed building and also a beautiful beach and harbor that will keep every time of visitor entertained!

4. The Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is the perfect English countryside retreat and a perfect day trip from London. Best done by car so you can explore all of the pretty villages the region has to offer!

5. Ham House

At the end of the district line at Richmond is the secret national trust house – ham house. Recognisable from many films, the beautiful gardens are a great place to wander in the summer!

6. Stonehenge

There is no great time to visit Stonehenge so why not take advantage of the long summers day and tick this important site off your UK bucket list!

7. Cliveden

Jump in the car and head to the beautiful national trust house of Cliveden. Learn about its famous female residents over be years including the infamous Mitford sisters! The gardens are plentiful and boast a great children’s play area, several cafes and a lovey sculpture garden!

8. Mayfield Lavender

For all you Instagram afficionados this place is for you! August is the last month to see these beauts in bloom so take advantage of this seasonal spectacle!
