2017 has been a year choc full of travels: we’ve been to the Maldives, Japan, Russia, Korea and Uk to name but a few. Everywhere we have travelled has posed its own set of challenges but at the same time been completely amazing. This year there have been a few products and gadgets that have made traveling with our toddler so much easier.
One of the aims of the blog is to help other parents travel successfully with their littles and with that in mind, here is our round up of our toddler travel essentials that we couldn’t live without in 2017!
Our Toddler Travel Essentials from 2017
Toddler Travel Essential: Familidoo air stroller
Without doubt one of our top pieces of kit for toddler travel in 2017 was our Familidoo Air Stroller. I love the fact that this stroller can be put into an airline overhead locker which is a godsend when you have a layover and eliminates the worry about your stroller getting damaged in the hold. We put this stroller through some serious tests when we travelled through Japan and it took everything we through at it!

Toddler Travel Essential – Annie baby monitor
We love traveling with our little one and like to travel in a variety of accommodations. Our favorites this year have had more than one room as it makes life so much easy when you have a sleeping little one. But this brings up challenges of traveling with a baby monitor. We have loved the Baby Annie App as it works on iPhones and iPads over wifi. Working on these gadgets means that you are not adding any extra luggage as if you are like us you will be traveling with these items anyway.
Toddler Travel Essential – Splashabout toddler swimwear
The one thing my little one loves when we are traveling is having access to swimming pools and the sea. There is nothing more she loves than having a good splash about! The toddler splash about swimwear range has definitely helped make this easier for parents. The range includes UV suits, swim nappies, and swimming costumes with inbuilt swim nappies meaning your toddler will have the best swim wardrobe on the beach!
Toddler Travel Essential –Toddlepak reins
Now our little one is up and moving we have found her Toddlepak reins invaluable. I know reins are really polarizing, some people hate the idea of them but the truth is in crowded places or near rivers and open water we have found them to be a lifesaver. Giving us control while letting our little one have freedom. I love the designs they come in too which have proved a hit with our little one.

Toddler Travel Essential -Travel Car Seat
One of my biggest worries when traveling with my little one is car safety. This year we have travelled with our Sit and Stroll travel car seat. It works refacing and front facing and doubles up as a stroller aswel which is useful at the airport if your toddler falls asleep in the car. Despite being able to use from a young age I think your baby needs to be at least a year before you start using.
We have recently started using the Urban Kanga Car Seat – and is what we recommend for your travels in Europe!
We love the Urban Kanga as it is lightweight and compact and we have found this to be the easiest car seat to travel with with our toddler!
Toddler Travel Essential – Baby Carrier
Parents often have a favorite when it comes to stroller or carrier when traveling. We are personally stroller people, but there are certain places where carriers are needed. If you are looking for a toddler friendly traveller I found this review by our friends at Tinbox Travellers very useful.
We have found the most versatile to be the Ergo Baby Carrier! It can be used with young children and can grow with your toddler!
For more hardcore out door activities I would recommend looking to invest in a toddler back pack ! We found that for when we go hiking in National Parks and when we were on the Great Wall of China etc, this heavy duty back carrier made life much easy!
Toddler Travel Essential – Baby dan baby backpack
When going on long hikes, we have found the Baby Dan Baby Backpack to be a lifesaver. The straps are so much more robust and comfortable compared to other types of backpacks and have room for all your other hiking essentials. If you are planning some more adventurous travel then this is a definite must have.
Toddler Travel Essential – Totseat
One thing we have noticed when we travel is that not every restaurant will come equipped with a high chair. That being said we have found our TotSeat is an essential. The totseat fits over any seat and finds a portable high chair. Washable and compact, it is a really useful addition for any parent traveling with a toddler.
Toddler Travel Essential – Toddler headphones
We are at that stage now where Frozen is a cure for everything. Plane journeys are easier with frozen on so a pair of toddler headphones are essential. Most come up a little large but the best we have tested are these. The bunny ear design also help with children keeping them on.
So the next two are a bit more practical and parent focussed but have made our life easier traveling with our little one
Toddler Travel Essential – Packing cubes
Not for toddler specifically but packing cubes are a great way to organize everything especially all of those new things you are packing with a little one in tow! These are are most important travel equipment since becoming a traveling family!
These are the ones we recommend!
I hadn’t used them until this year but now wouldn’t live without them. I find packing all our clothes into color coded packs useful when scouring for things and the sizes help pack different types of clothes together.

So many good ideas in one place, brilliant! I like to travel with my family. I have a son and he is 5 years old. Every parent wants the best for his child. So, I’m not sure what would I do without our carrier. It is so useful. What else are you using while traveling?

The reins are such a Britsh thing. very common in the UK, but I have never seen anyone using them in other countries. I love the idea though, the other day my little one ran away in a shop and I had a total mini panic attack. Packing cubes and a totseat is also part of our travel essentials. #fearlessfamtravel
