As a Westerner, and in particular a Western women I personally prefer to go to the beach at 5* hotel resorts when I want to Doha beaches to sunbath or swim so not to offend.

The dress code is definitely the biggest difference between public and private beaches in Qatar!

However I still like going to public beaches and while I won’t wear a bikini or sunbath there, I like to go to the public beaches to birdwatch, dune bash or see another side to life in Qatar.

Whenever we visited this area we went with a private company due to the business and difficulty of driving on dunes.

So many beautiful beaches! I agree with Hilary that it’s important to educate people on others’ customs, and differences. Thanks for linking up with #farawayfiles

  5. I love the look of Zekreet and those beautiful natural formations. Thank you for sharing and educating visitors to what is acceptable and not in Qatar. Very different from a beach in Denmark, both in landscape and attitude. Both places may require a little cultural conditioning. #FarawayFiles
