Yes Disneyland Paris is open in February. In fact Disneyland Paris is open 365 days a year.  So now we know that Disneyland Paris is open in February the next questions to ask is about the attractions at Disneyland Paris.

The good news is that yes Disneyland Paris rides are indeed open in February however there are caveats to this. Whatever park you are at around the world, Disney rides tend to shut in extreme weather conditions such as very heavy rain, snow and hurricanes. If you are due to get very heavy rain or storms during your trip you may want to check out our dedicated visiting Disneyland Paris in the rain tips post.

As you are visiting Paris in February you are likely to experience weather that could threaten to temporarily shut some rides, though I stress this is temporary and the cast members always do their best to get everything open as soon as it safe to do so.

Is Disneyland Paris crowded in February?

In answer to whether or not Disneyland Paris is crowded in February I would say depends on which part of February you are visiting in.

Early February at Disneyland Paris is actually one of the least busy times to visit the parks all year. However if you are visiting Disneyland Paris in the part of the month which coincides with the Uk half term holiday the crowds will swell. While there are also half term holidays in France and surrounding European countries in February these tend to be spread across a few weeks so there are no sudden crowd surges.

If you don’t have school aged children and plan to visit Disneyland Paris as adults or do Disneyland Paris with toddlers then you should definitely consider traveling to Disneyland Paris in February outside of the school holidays as this is a great time to go and avoid the crowds.

For more information on the best time to visit Disneyland Paris check out this post.

Disneyland Paris Crowd Calendar February 2023

There are no public holidays in France in the month of February however if you want to visit Disneyland Paris when the crowds are less then you will want to avoid the UK February half term dates.

For February 2023 the half term break is expected to be around Friday 10th February with the schools going back on Monday 20th February.  And the February half term in 2024 is expected to start on or around Friday 9th February with the kids going back on Monday 19th February.

Are there any special events at Disneyland Paris in February

One of the reasons that the crowds are lower in February compared to months nearby is because there aren’t any special events or seasons happening in Disneyland Paris at this time.

However if you are visiting Disneyland Paris on Valentine’s Day there might be no special decorations or happenings but you never know you might spot someone proposing at Disneyland Paris. A popular spot to propose in Disneyland Paris is in front of the castle so is a good spot to keep your eyes peeled as you may see someone’s special moment.

What is the Disneyland Paris in February Weather?

As you would expect the weather in Disneyland Paris in February tends to be cold to mild but with a chance of rain throughout the month.

Is Disneyland Paris cold in February?

In answer to is Disneyland Paris cold in February I would have to say that it really depends on the year. The average daily temperature at Disneyland Paris in February tends to hover around the 4C mark but you can get highs of around 7C and lows 1C typically. But there is always a chance of the weather bucking the trend so do keep your eyes peeled on your weather app to make sure you know what to expect before you travel and pack.

I would recommend packing lots of layers (More on this later) and expect to feel the cold especially if you are staying in the park to see the evening parade, fireworks and the illuminations.

Does it rain at Disneyland Paris in February?

There are no two ways about it there is a chance you will experience rain at some point during your Disneyland Paris vacation. In February Paris gets on average 8 days of rain in the month of February.

However don’t worry if you get some rain at Disneyland Paris as there are plenty of things to do in the park even if does rain.

Does it snow at Disneyland Paris in February?

Much like in the UK, snow is actually quite a rare thing in Paris and you are unlikely to experience snow at Disneyland Paris.  However  historically there has been instances of snow and ice at Disneyland Paris in February.

Is it worth going to Disneyland Paris in February?

Is Disneyland Paris In February worth it

Is Disneyland Paris In February worth it

Generally speaking if you want to go to Disneyland Paris at a time that is both cheaper and less crowded then February may be the perfect month for you to visit.

However you there are two counter points to consider:

The Park opening hours are reduced in February (as they are throughout the Winter months)

there may be some rides that are closed for essential maintenance in February.

Mickey and the Magician show usually comes back in February but depending which part of the month you are traveling will depend whether it is on or not.

The usual opening hours in February at Disneyland Paris are:

Weekdays Disneyland Park 10.00 till 19.00, Walt Disney Studios Park 10.00 till 18.00

Weekend Disneyland Park 10.00 till 22.00, Walt Disney Studios Park 10.00 till 20.00

With Early Magic Hours being around 8:30 – 9:30 – currently only available in the Disneyland Park NOT the Walt Disney Studios Park.

Please note these timings are just for guidance and are subject to change and haven’t been released for 2022 yet so be sure to keep checking back.

Visiting Disneyland Paris in February Tips

Visiting Disneyland PAris Pregnant - stay on site

Now in my opinion if your budget can afford it I always recommend staying on site for several reasons:

  • you are walking distance to the parks which is convenient if you need a break or a change of clothes or simply want to escape the cold weather or a rain shower
  • you get early magic hours. This is especially important when the park is operating at its reduced winter hours to make sure you fit everything into your Disneyland Paris Itinerary.
  • Also if you want something to do other than the parks then some of the on site Disneyland Paris hotels (i.e. Newport Bay and Sequoia Lodge to name a couple) have pools that you can walk back to and are heated so can be used in the Winter.

Best things to do at Disneyland Paris in February

Enjoy the rides with smaller queues

Dumbo at Disneyland Paris - Extra Magic Hours at Disneyland Paris

One of my favourite things about February is the smaller crowds. And of course top of every Disneyland Paris bucket list is getting on as many rides as possible. In February you have a very strong chance to get on more rides dues to the smaller crowds outside of the UK February school holidays.

Do Character Dining

Snow White signing an autograph - do they only speak French at Disneyland Paris

Character dining is always top of our list of things to do at Disneyland Paris but it can be hard to get reservations especially at peak times. If you are lucky enough to get a reservation we recommend dressing your little ones up in costumes to ensure great interactions with character.

And if you are vegan at Disneyland Paris then check out this guide.

To further enhance your character interactions be sure to check out our best questions to ask Disney characters and best questions to ask Disney princesses posts.

Meet characters

Characters are a key part of any Disney experience. The characters usually have long lines so February is a great time to meet lots of them.

Watch the Parade

We love the Disney Parades. Be sure to catch this during your February vacation at Disneyland Paris.

See the Fireworks

When we travel in summer our little ones have trouble staying up late enough to see the fireworks and illuminations. The early dark nights in February make it easier for them to catch the evening entertainment.

Watch Mickey and the Magician (while you can)

Mickey and the Magician is one of my favourite unique things to do in Disneyland Paris. Historically however Mickey and the Magician usually opens during February after the seasonal shows have finished. If it is on during your trip you definitely shouldn’t miss this out of your Disneyland Paris itinerary.

What to Wear to Disneyland Paris in February

What to Wear in Disneyland Paris in February

What to Wear in Disneyland Paris in February

The key to what to wear to Disneyland Paris in February is layers, layers and more layers.  As we mentioned above it can be cold at Disneyland Paris in February and you will definitely feel it, especially if the wind is hitting you in the wrong direction when you are queuing outside for rides and shows. We recommend wearing things like jeans, long sleeve t shirts coupled with hoodies and sweaters as well as coats. This way you have lots of layers to protect you from the cold but you can easily remove a layer if you get too warm indoors.

But if you like me feel the cold then I would also advise you packing:

Hat

Scarf

Gloves – we recommend picking a pair that mean you can use your mobile phone with so you don’t have to keep taking them on and off during photo opportunities.

Thermals

Waterproofs

Waterproof shoes – there is nothing worse than walking around the parks with wet feet. Also as there is a small chance of ice during your February vacation we would recommend having shoes that have a bit of grip just in case. These things are especially essential if you plan to rope drop and get into the parks early and if stay in the parks after dark to see the fireworks and the illuminations as the temperatures really do drop once the sun has gone down. We also think that no Disneyland Paris packing list is complete without a pair of Mickey ears.

Also if you are traveling to Disneyland Paris with kids who love to dress up but are worried about the cold I would say choose the costumes you pick wisely.

For instance the best Disneyland Paris costumes for February for me are:

  • Elsa’s Traveling Outfit from Frozen two
  • Belle from Beauty and the Beasts Winter outfit
  • Animal costumes such as simba or an Olaf costume which has a lot of stuffing to help keep your little ones warm.

I also insist my daughter always wear thermals and a coat with any costumes she wears to Disneyland Paris in Winter. It is great getting cute pictures with your little ones in costume but it is more important to stay warm.
