Firstly before we get onto the comparison of both these hotel we thought it would be worthwhile mentioning why we think you should stay on-site at Disneyland Paris and what the benefits are at both of these hotels.

Benefits on on-site Disneyland Paris Hotels

It doesn’t matter whether you are staying at Santa Fe, New York New York or Art of Marvel, all the Disneyland paris hotels have some benefits in common including:

Early Magic Hours / Extra Magic Hours at Disneyland Paris

Ultimate Disneyland Paris Tips and Tricks for a PERFECT trip - use early magic hours

Ultimate Disneyland Paris Tips and Tricks for a PERFECT trip – use early magic hours

By staying on site at Sequoia Lodge or Cheyenne you will receive the extra magic hours. This basically gives you access to the parks an hour before guests who are staying off site.

In reality this means you can tick off several of your top priority rides before most people have even been let inside the gates. This can actually reduce the number of days you need in the parks

Now there are several strategies for how to use Extra magic hours – you can read about them in our Disneyland Paris rope drop strategies post but trust me when I say that you can get a lot done during this quieter morning period.

You are Walking Distance to the Parks

All of the on-site hotels at Disneyland Paris (not Davy Crockett Ranch) are walkable to the parks. This means it is quick and stress free way of getting into the park.

It also means you can head back to the room for nap time if you are traveling to Disneyland Paris with a toddler or you want a afternoon nap if you are traveling to Disneyland Paris in August or other summer months hen the operational hours are greatly extended.

We will tell you the walk length and ease in our comparison guide below.

Character Meet and Greets

Meet and greets can have some of the longest queues in the parks especially if you are looking to meet Mickey mouse or the Princesses at Disneyland Paris.

If you are staying at an on-site hotel you are able to meet characters in your hotel lobby at posted times which can be a great way of adding new names to your Disney autograph book without the queues of the park.

Sequoia Lodge Vs Cheyenne

But before we go on to compare we thought it would be useful to give you an overview of each hotel

Sequoia Lodge Overview

Entrance to hotel - Disneyland Paris Sequoia Lodge Vs Cheyenne Hotel

Disneyland Paris Sequoia Lodge Vs Cheyenne Hotel

Sequoia Lodge is a mid range hotel at Disneyland Paris that is usually categorised as a 3* hotel.

The theming of this hotel isn’t as overtly Disney as some of the other Disneyland Paris though it is there.

The theme of the hotel is USA National Parks lodges. To me it felt like they were trying to emulate the lodge hotels you find in Yellowstone or Yosemite National Park.

However once you are in the room you will find some light IP (read Disney film) touches. In this case Bambi.

The rooms at Sequoia Lodge all have a Bambi border and have some other deer decorations. However I would say it is quite subtle and if your kids like mine, have not seen Bambi these touches might be lost on them.

Facilities at this hotel include:

  • swimming pool
  • hotel shop
  • fitness centre
  • Little Prairie Children’s Play Corner.
  • Redwood Bar and Lounge
  • 2 on-site restaurants (Hunters Grill and Beaver Creek Tavern).

Hotel Cheyenne Overview

Hotel Cheyenne is considered on of the more budget hotels at Disneyland Paris being a 2* hotel.

IT has a more over Disney theming with its Toy story overlay that some of the other on site hotels. The accommodation blocks here are laid out like an Old West Town with names like Annie Oakley and Butch Cassidy that really helps bring the theme to life.

On top of the bar at this hotel is called a Saloon and has an Old West theme.

And the theming continues in room with cowboy boot lamps, Woody’s Roundup pictures on the wall and faux cow hide blankets.

Facilities at this hotel include:

  • General Store
  • Indoor playground
  • Outdoor play area
  • Chuck Wagon Cafe
  • Red Garter Saloon
  • Starbucks Coffee

Which has the better theme – Sequoia Lodge Vs Cheyenne?

When I think about theming the battle between Sequoia Lodge vs Cheyenne is easily won. For me Cheyenne has hands down better theming than Sequoia Lodge.

The Toy Story touches are more overt than the Bambi touches at Sequoia Lodge and the theming feels more cohesive seamlessly transitioning from the bedrooms to the public areas.

However if you don’t want a IP heavy hotel then you should consider Sequoia Lodge

Which hotel is cheaper Sequoia Lodge or Cheyenne?

As we mentioned above Sequoia Lodge is a 3* hotel while Cheyenne is a 2* hotel. Therefore it should come as no surprise that Cheyenne is the cheaper hotel.

However you can sometimes get deals where Sequoia ends up being cheaper or the same cost as Cheyenne.

If you are traveling to Disneyland Paris on a budget be sure to check out our other post that will help you save money:

Which is the most luxurious hotel?

Hotel Room - Cheyenne Vs Sequoia Lodge

Hotel Room – Cheyenne Vs Sequoia Lodge

Neither Cheyenne or Sequoia Lodge can be classified as a luxury hotel. The most luxurious Disneyland Paris Hotel honor goes to the Disneyland Hotel.

However Sequoia Lodge does offer a more luxurious class of room known as the Golden Forest Rooms aka GF Rooms. These are slightly more high end and offers a concierge and dedicated lounge area where snacks, drinks and afternoon tea are served.

Therefore I would have to say out of these two hotels I would say the Golden Forest Rooms and Suites are the most luxurious option.

Which hotel is closer to the parks?

Both hotels are walkable to the parks, but there is also a bus service from the hotel Cheyenne if you are worried about the walk.

Sequoia Lodge is a 15 minute to both the Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Park Entrance while the walk to the hotel Cheyenne is 5 minutes longer with a 20 minute walk.

Therefore if you wanted to be closest to the park with the quickest and easiest walk then you should book Sequoia Lodge however having stayed at both I can confirm both walks are relatively easy even after a long day in the parks.

Do both hotels have a pool?

No, only one of these hotels has a pool and that is Sequoia Lodge.

Therefore if you are visiting Disneyland Paris in the summer months such as June, July or August and want to head back to your hotel to cool off Sequoia Lodge has more amenities.

Which has better character meet and greets?

One of the best perks about staying at a Disneyland Paris hotel is the fact that you get one meet and greet with characters in the hotel lobby each day.

But which has the better meet and greet will depend on who you want to meet.

At the hotel Cheyenne you can meet Woody and Jessie in the mornings.

While at the Sequoia Lodge, you can meet the classic Disney characters in their national park costumes (think lumberjacks). We have met Goofy, Donald and Max when we have stayed at Sequoia Lodge.

It is also worth noting that these meet and greets are in the evenings as opposed to breakfast which I find to be more convenient your Disneyland Paris itinerary.

Personally I prefer the Sequoia Lodge Meet and Greets for the simple reason that the outfits are unique to the hotel and can’t be seen elsewhere in the park. However when my little one was in a Toy sTory phase they would have preferred the Jessie and Woody meet and greets.

However before you base your booking decision on meet and greets it is worth noting that you can move between hotels to do different meet and greets. You don’t have to stay at the hotel you are staying on.

The only exception to this is the New York New York which uses a virtual queue for meet and greets of Avengers Campus characters. You have to be resident at the hotel to join the queue but this is the only hotel on site that does this.

Overall which is better Cheyenne or Sequoia Lodge?

Overall I really think there is no bad choice. We have enjoyed our stays at both Sequoia and Cheyenne.

But if pushed I would say the theming is better at Cheyenne, and it is a more budget friendly option. And if you aren’t planning to spend any time in the hotel there is really no better choice.

However if you want to be slightly closer to the park and plan to spend more time in the hotel and want amenities such as a pool then you should pick Sequoia Lodge.

Which is your favorite? let us know if you prefer Sequoia or Cheyenne in the comments and your reason why – we’d love to hear!
