Our honest Sequoia Lodge Review

Are you looking for an honest Sequoia Lodge review? Then you have come to the right place. In this post, we share with you our honest opinions about Sequoia Lodge at Disneyland Paris based on our own experience of staying at this hotel.

Overview of Sequoia Lodge at Disneyland Paris

Sequoia Lodge Review

Sequoia Lodge is one of the mid range on-site hotels at Disneyland Paris and is a great choice for those not visiting Disneyland Paris on a very tight budget.

Unlike some of the on-site hotels, the Disney theme is slightly less overt. The theme here is based on the US national parks such as Yosemite and Yellowstone, and isn’t as in your face Disney as say Cheyenne with it’s toy story theme however there are subtle nods to Bambi all over the hotel.

Generally speaking I think this hotel is great for those who don’t want to stay in the most basic hotels, but who aren’t worried about luxury.

Sequoia Lodge Review

The theme at Sequoia Lodge is more subtle than say the Hotel Cheyenne with its Wild West /  Toy Story or the Art of Marvel with its’ superheroes. Sequoia Lodge takes its inspiration from the national parks of the US but has some Bambi touches in the rooms themselves.

Transport at Sequoia Lodge

Although packages booked through Disneyland Paris do not come with hotel transfers, there is a free shuttle bus between the hotel and the main park entrance.

However, I will say that these get very busy, especially at peak times. For this reason, we tried to avoid using the free shuttle and just walked to the parks instead.

Sequoia is actually only around a 10-15 minute walk fro the park entrance. It is a relatively flat walk through the Disney Village and we managed to do it with a stroller easily.  If you can we really recommend walking instead of taking the shuttle bus to the park as it is a much more pleasant and less stressful experience.

Rooms at Sequoia Lodge

Sequoia Lodge Rooms

There are 3 types of room at Sequoia Lodge. There are:

  • Standard Rooms –  this is what we stayed in and our room had two double beds and comfortably slept two adults and two children.
  • Golden Forest Club Room – again these come with two double beds but have additional perks such as breakfast being included without having to have a meal plan, lounge access with hot and soft drinks, and sweet treats between 4-6pm as well as a dedicated reception.
  • Club Rooms and Suites –

As we have been to the park before and only really sleep in our room and always have breakfast on the go, we opted to stay in a standard room.

Amenities at Sequoia Lodge

Although you will be spending most of your time at the park rather than in the hotel itself it is worth noting that there are plenty of amenities at the hotel.

Facilities at this hotel include:

  • General Store aka Northwest Passage Store which sells drinks as well as souvenirs.
  • Little Prairie Kids Corner – Children’s play area

  • swimming pool (note: Sequoia is Lodge is usually the cheapest hotel on site with pool access)

  • fitness centre
  • two buffet restaurants – Beaver Creek Tavern and Hunters Grill and
  • REdwood Bar and Lounge – a great place to chill after a day in the parks.

Restaurant at Sequoia

If you are staying at Sequoia with a meal plan or just want to eat in your hotel then you have a couple of options for dining on site.

If you have a bed and breakfast plan, you can eat your breakfast at the on-site restaurant and there is no need to prebook. The breakfast has lots of continental breakfast options, yogurt and cereals on offer.

The on-site restaurants at Sequoia are called the Hunters Grill and Beaver Creek Tavern which are buffet restaurants and have lots of options even if you have a fussy eater in your group.

What are the meet and greets at Sequoia?

Sequoia Lodge Meet and Greets

One of the best perks about staying at a Disneyland Paris hotel is the fact that you get one meet and greet with characters in the hotel lobby each day. And the meet and greets at Sequoia Lodge are some of my favorites due to the character’s unique hotel clothes which are based on national park rangers.

When we were at Sequoia most recently we met:

  • Donald Duck,
  • Goofy and
  • Max.

When we went the meet and greets ran from 7pm to 9pm however they have switched to mornings so be sure to check at check in for current meet and greet times.

Things to do

On top of the meet and greets there are also other great activities at Sequoia. The pool at Sequoia is great especially if you are traveling during the summer when the parks are hot.

Also if you are traveling with young children or toddlers there is also a small children’s activity area called Little Prairie Kids Corner. This has lots of colouring to keep the kids amused while you are grabbing a drink.

Is Sequoia Lodge worth it?

In my opinion, Sequoia Lodge is a great hotel to stay at. We always recommend staying on-site wherever possible due to the Early Magic Hours which helps cut down on your queue time. Sequoia is a great choice for those not on a tight budget but who don’t mind the walk to the parks. Also it is great for those who want some down time and want to have the option of a pool.

The only drawback to this hotel is it is slightly less overt in terms of its Disney theme than others however the meet and greets and the costumes more than make up for this in my opinion.
